? The Carl Junction Softball team is looking forward to a great season! After winning the 2010 District Championship and the Big 8 Conference Title for the second year in a row, they are pumped and ready for another successful season!
? The seniors this year are Andrea Ackerson, Shelby Campbell, Caitlyn Carter, Natalie Fox, Tori Graskemper, Ryan Osborn, Samantha Thomas. Juniors: Sunday English, Sydney Koch, and Josie McCorkle. Sophomores: Kendra Barnett, Bryce Boyd, Abigail Danley, Marilyn Dunker, Mary Goodson, Emilee Huckstep, Samantha Spencer, Tasha Steele, and Kristen Tyler. Freshman: Sadie Basting, Madison Dodson, and Lauran White.
? Although they had a rough start, losing their first game against Neosho 13-4, they kicked it into gear, finishing in a solid fourth place in the Joplin tournament played at Missouri Southern on March 25 through the 27. The first game was a rematch against Neosho, they lost 4-2. Next they played Park Hill South, and won 5-2. They finished March 25 with a victory, beating Bartlesville Oklahoma with a final score of 10-8. ?I am very proud of the girls after a long day on the field,? said Johnothan Wengert, Head Softball Coach.
? They opened March 26 with the semi finals game against Blue Springs, they lost 7-0, which left them playing for third against Webb City, losing 6-3. ?I feel like with our senior leadership that we should have a very good season. We returned 8 starters from last year, therefore we have a lot of experience, and I believe we will compete in conference and district titles with the ultimate goal of winning a state title,? said Coach Wengert.
